This event will push the boundaries of conceptual performance art by asking the audience to critically engage with a ritual that is both well-known and vastly under-considered. The ‘ceremony’ will consist of an interactive live art piece by Nicolene Burger & Mandri Sutherland in which they critique conservative Afrikaans wedding rituals. This will be followed by a reception (read: PARTY) in true That Eclectic style.
The idea is to gather and reflect on the rituals we partake in as a community and how we can perform these rituals in conscious ways. That Wedding is an attempt to unite our community in love, celebration & critical thought. So bring your dancing shoes, your wits & those cringey ‘funky’ socks.
