We've managed to secure an essential services license and 2U GetSmarter have been kind enough to grant us access to our kitchen within their office. Instead of getting back to making those amazing freezer meals you all loved, we have decided to use the power of our kitchen space to make meals for those who desperately need them. This means we do not have to put any of our staff at more risk of exposure, Shannon and 3 staff members will be in the kitchen, rotating so that every person only comes in once a week. We are positive we can make a minimum of 200 meals a day!
These meals are priced at R20 a portion and only covers the cost of making them and the expenses directly involved in distributing them. They use only organic veg from Umthunzi Farming Community, thereby helping the farmers keep their income. We are making OUR Pure Good meals, not just bowls of soup. They are healthy, PACKED with protein and other goodness to build strong immunity and keep bellies full for longer!
From the current donations we have been able to bring on The Block House Kitchen in Constantia Uitsig and Marrow Restaurant in Loop Street to provide 200 portions of food daily to New Hope Living in Retreat and Uphawu Development Centre in Samora Machel.
Pure Good Food is providing Ekasi Project Green daily meals for the 200+ little ones in the community and twice weekly deliveries of 600 meals to the refugees at Wingfield Military. All excess meals are taken to The Service Dining Room in Gardens to be distributed to those in need!
We've been inundated with questions on how people can help those in need, those whose income streams were immediately cut off with the lockdown, and we're doing our bit to connect with communities who are in need of food aid. So if you want to help us keep feeding those that need, buy a food voucher to feed 10, 20 or 100 hungry mouths.
